Local Outdoor Dining Spots offer VARIED cuisines with spectacular views

After months of cold, snowy weather followed by a rainy season, getting outside to enjoy the warm temperatures is at the top of every Staten Islander’s to-do list. And what better way than to check out the hottest outdoor dining spots—complete with good food, and spectacular views?

angelinas

Angelina’s, a South Shore favorite—located at 399 Ellis Street in Tottenville, offers Italian fare from northern and southern Italy with a signature dish of risotto with langostino, and its outdoor terrace offers a breathtaking waterfront view. Tues. and Wed. 12 to 11 p.m., Thurs., Fri., and Sat. 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. and Sun. 12 to 9 p.m.

Ruddy and Dean is a traditional American steakhouse on 44 Richmond Terrace, with a breathtaking view of Manhattan from its outdoor terrace. Known for its dry-aged steaks, the St. George restaurant also features favorites like seared scallops. Open Mon. to Thurs. 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fri. and Sat. 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sun. 12 to 11 p.m.

southfin

If you’ve strolled along the boardwalk at South Beach, you’ve likely spotted The South Fin Grill. This steak and seafood restaurant at 300 Capodanno Blvd. offers a picturesque view of the Verrazano Bridge and features a diverse menu, including a sushi and raw bar. Sun. brunch from
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and live music on weekends. Other hours are Mon. to Thurs 11:30 a.m. to
10 p.m., Fri. and Sat. 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sun. 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

carmens

In the mood for Spanish-American? Visit Carmen’s, located at 750 Barclay Avenue. Expanded outdoor dining is currently under construction for this Spanish restaurant (which also offers Mexican cuisine), but patrons can once again enjoy its waterfront view outdoors starting at the end of May. Hours are Sun. to Thurs., noon to 10 p.m. and Fri. and Sat. noon to 11 p.m.

marinacafe

The Marina Café Dockside, at 154 Mansion Avenue, offers a spectacular view of the Great Kills Harbor along with a diverse menu of seafood, steak, and pasta dishes. The restaurant also offers a raw bar, sushi, and salads, wraps and sandwiches, along with a nighttime Tiki bar. Hours are Mon. to Thurs., noon to 10 p.m., Fri. and Sat. noon to 11 p.m. and Sun. 1 to 9 p.m.

lorenzos

Looking for a great place to dine out with your favorite four-legged friend? You’ll find it at Lorenzo’s (named after owners Richard and Lois Nicotra’s Maltese). This restaurant and bar, located at the Hilton Garden Inn (1100 South Ave.) offers “doggy dining,” in which pets are provided with bowls of water and treats while customers choose from the Italian and Continental menu featuring pastas, steaks, seafood and chicken dishes. Paninis, specialty burgers, and salads are popular for the lunch menu. On Sundays, the restaurant also offers a brunch and Italian dinner buffet. Hours are Mon. to Thurs. 12 to 10 p.m., Fri. 12 to 11 p.m., Sat. noon to 12 a.m. and Sun. noon to 10 p.m.

010Dish

Grilled fillet mignon with red wine sauce, garlic beef, Chilean sea bass, and the bushido roll are just a few of the favorites at Dish, located at 9208 3rd Avenue and 92nd Street in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Japanese - French fusion fare abounds, along with a signature mango mojito.
Hours are Tues. 4 to 11 p.m., Wed. and Thurs. 4 to 12 p.m., Fri. 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., Sat. 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Sun. 3 to 11p.m.

lakeclub

Tucked away in the heart of Clove Lakes Park, The Lake Club offers a continental menu, including steak and seafood. Piano player Mike Nerlino entertains on Fri. and Sat. nights and during Sun. brunch (which has three seatings: 11 a.m., 12:30, and 2 p.m.). Lunch at the West Brighton restaurant (1150 Clove Road) is served Monday through Fri. noon to 4 p.m., dinner 4 to 9 p.m. weekdays (6 to 11 p.m. weekends).

Zest, a French-American restaurant at 977 Bay Street in Rosebank, offers a beautiful outdoor garden area for dining, and features a prix-fixe $25 menu on Sun. (from 4 to 9:30 p.m.) and during the week (Tues., Wed., Thurs. from 5 to 10 p.m.) as well as Fri. and Sat. from 5 to 11 p.m.

buddahlounge

Known as a hip nightspot, the Buddha Lounge also boasts balcony dining in the warm weather. The Charleston lounge at 2945 Veterans Rd W. serves Japanese food as well as steaks and seafood. Patrons can enjoy a DJ spinning Thurs. to Sat. from 10 p.m.to 1 a.m. Hours are noon to 11 p.m. Monday to Wed. and noon to 12 a.m. Thurs. to Sat. Lounge is open 2 to 11 p.m. on Sun.

coralbay

What better way to relax than dining by the water? Coral Bay Café, located at 722 Rockaway Street in Tottenville, offers Italian fare, seafood, and steaks with a perfect view of the Raritan Bay. Located near Conference House Park, its hours are daily from noon to 11 p.m.

If you’re looking to dine out and get a great deal at the same time, visit Portobello Café at 4221 Hylan Boulevard. This Great Kills restaurant has just revamped its outdoor dining area, and offers lunch specials for $6.95 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mon. to Fri. for groups of 8 or less. It also offers 2-for-1 dinner specials from Mon. to Thurs. from 4 to 10 p.m. (limited to groups of six or less). They also have a chef’s prix-fixe dinner for two for $74.95 which includes beverages, two appetizers, two entrees, and two desserts on Fri., Sat., and Sun.. Hours are Mon. to Thurs. 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fri. 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., Sat. noon to 12 a.m. and Sun. 2 to 10 p.m.
