Crisis of the Day-our favorite new cover band-sounds off

It's 3 o'clock on a Friday afternoon, and if you're fresh out of plans for the weekend, Crisis of the Day can solve your social crisis.

This local band has been around for 8 years, but some of the members have been hitting the circuits together since the mid-'90s. Fifteen years ago they were a little-known band that went by the name Bar-fly. Their first gig was at Chevy's in the Staten Island Mall.

Today, Crisis of the Day headlines shows at bars and restaurants all over Staten Island. Their beats are produced by Glenn McKenna and Joe Coffey. Rob Hubertz and Desiree Pravato belt out the vocals.

Their sets run the gamut-from old school to country, rap to pop-this cover band has it covered. Crowd requests are always welcome, as well.

Not only does Crisis of the Day rock the party, the cover songs sound so close to the originals, you might wonder if the real recording artists are in the house.

Guitarist Joe Coffey says, "We're very well rounded. There isn't anything we can't do. Any style of music, any party, we have a great group of good musicians who all know the sets."

The band started as an all-acoustic group-no keyboards. A few years ago, they switched to an all-electric format to add some electricity to the latest musical trends.
